ORHAN Delivers Humanitarian Assistance to WWDs in Vavuniya North with CFLI Support
Vavuniya North, Sri Lanka – With the support of funding from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), the Organisation for Rehabilitation of the Handicapped (ORHAN) organized a relief distribution programme for communities affected by the floods caused by the Dtwah cyclone in the Vavuniya North Divisional Secretariat area.
The initiative was conducted under the project titled “Delivering Humanitarian Assistance to Women with Disabilities in Vavuniya North, Sri Lanka,” implemented by ORHAN with the assistance of CFLI. The programme aimed to provide urgent humanitarian support to vulnerable groups, particularly women with disabilities and children with disabilities, who were severely impacted by the disaster.
During the programme, relief assistance was distributed to 40 families of women with disabilities, along with essential support to children with disabilities to help them recover from the effects of the floods.

The event was honored by the presence of Her Excellency Isabelle Martin, High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, who personally participated in the distribution of relief items and expressed solidarity with the affected communities.
The programme was also attended by several distinguished guests and local officials, including:

Mr. Saahithyan Ganeshanathan, Political Officer, High Commission of Canada;
Mrs. K. Manivannan, Assistant Director of Planning, Vavuniya North;

Mr. V. Tharsikan, Social Service Officer.

ORHAN extended its sincere appreciation to the Government of Canada and CFLI for their continued support in promoting inclusive humanitarian action and for standing in solidarity with vulnerable communities. The organization also acknowledged the contributions of all partners and stakeholders who supported the successful implementation of the programme.
